World Book Day Activities for Kids

World Book Day or International Day of the Book is celebrated around the world on April 23rd (although in the UK it is celebrated on the first Thursday in March). It is organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to promote reading, publishing and copyright.

April 23rd is also the anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, author of many plays and poems and of Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quixote.

World Book Day is a great day to start or end a reading challenge, read a new book or even try your hand at writing some poetry or a short story.
