A Mid Summer Night's Dream
Lovers' Story Vocabulary Word List

This simple vocabulary word lists ties Shakespeare's Mid Summer Night's Dream to our various worksheets from the lovers' point of view.

Words in the word list:

Ideas for using the word list:

use as vocabulary words for spelling practice.
have the children work in groups to research and discuss the meaning of the words on the word list, then create individual journals (mini dictionaries) with definitions and an example sentence for each word.

have the children chose one of the words and draw a picture inspired by that word
Draw a Picture inspired by the word color template or B&W template
have the children write a poem or short story using words from the word list
have the children categorize the words by the parts of speech. You can also add additional words that aren't part of the word list but relate to the word list words (for example, you can add "brown" to the adjectives as in 'brown basket'). The parts of speech are:
- verb,
- noun,
- pronoun,
- adjective,
- adverb,
- preposition,
- conjunction, or
- interjection

After reading a story, you can also have the children make their own list of words they would like to learn more about. Having children come up with one “What in the World? Word” each time they read a story is a great way to build vocabulary.

Hang the word list words on the wall so all of the children are able to see them (make your own picture clues or use the word wall word templates
Use the matching sentence sequencing cards to practice creating sentences using the word wall words and common sight words.

Things I Have a Love/Hate Relationship With:

Technology: I love how it connects us and makes things easier, but why does it have to change so quickly?
Trivia Nights: I'm your go-to person for fun facts, yet somehow, I always end up in second or third place. Frustrating!
Gardening: I like to think I have a green thumb, but it has a few brown speckles. My plants and I are working on it.
Animals: I adore my pets and they bring me so much joy, but oh, the chores! Why can’t they clean up after themselves?

I earned my degree back in the early '90s, and as a lifelong learner, I continue to delve into the things I love. This includes technology (though I struggle to keep up!), art, early childhood education, history, and mythology as it relates to sociology.

I know that while the coloring pages are largely for kids, many of you visiting the site are educators and caregivers. I’ve tried to share some interesting trivia tidbits and fun facts to make your visit enjoyable too.
