Monkey Paper Plate Face or Mask

Create a fun and interactive monkey face or mask inspired by "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed." Using simple materials like a paper plate, paper, and our printable templates, young learners can craft their own monkey mask. Follow our easy instructions to color, cut, and assemble the mask, and customize it with optional paint.

Materials:

• paper plate
• paper
• printer
• something to color with
• scissors
• glue
• OPTIONAL:  Paint the paper plate whatever color you want your monkey to be.  Kaitlyn painted hers brown.

You will need a large paper plate for this craft.  If you don't have one (I never seem to!), you can take a dinner plate and trace it onto a piece of cardboard (old cereal boxes).
 

Instructions:

• Print out the template of choice.
• Color the pieces as appropriate and cut them out.
• Glue the ears, mouth and eyes onto the paper plate.
• OPTIONAL:  TO MAKE A MASK
  • instead of gluing on the eyes, you can hold up the plate to your child's face and make marks where their eyes are. 
  • Then cut holes so the child can peer through the plate.
  • Now use a ribbon attached to either side of the plate to tie the mask to the child's head 
    OR
  • my preferred option is to attach a popsicle stick or tongue depressor to the bottom of the mask (make two slits, thread the stick through and tape to secure).  Now they can hold it in front of their face and take it away if they feel claustrophobic.
  • Let the kids pretend to be monkeys jumping on the bed (throw pillows on the floor to act as the bed).

• Set page margins to zero if you have trouble fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP or FILE, PRINTER SETUP in most browsers).
