Theseus carefully gathered his string, found his way out of the Labyrinth and rescued his fellow Athenians along the way.

Ship with Black flagBefore they boarded the ship home for good, he asked for Princess Ariadne’s hand in marriage, and they all moved from Crete’s shores as fast as possible.

Using weapons that some of the men had found in the Labyrinth (many even magical), they destroyed the Cretan boats’ chance to follow them by slicing their hulls.

In the glory of the miraculous battle against the Minotaur, escape from the Labyrinth, and rescue of his Athenian men, Theseus started to become rather selfish.
