For my dd's BD party, we made "treasure stones." Here's the receipe:

1 cup flour 1 cup used coffe grounds 1/2 C salt 1/4 C sand 3/4 C water

Mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl. Slowly add water and knead until the mixture is the consistency of bread dough. Break off a piece of dough and roll it into the size of a baseball. Make a hold in the center of the ball big enough to hide treasures in. Fil the hole with treasures (small plastic toys, balls, etc.), and seal with some extra dough. Let your treasure stones air dryy for 2-3 days or until hard. Or bake in the oven on a cookie sheet at 150 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

You can also add 1 Tbs of powder tempera paint to tint the stones.

My dd's BD party had an outer space theme, so we made up a bunch of the stones ahead of time, filled with little plastic aliens, and hid them all over the yard. We told the guests there had been a meteor shower in our back yard the night before and we wanted them to help pick up. The kids were very surprized to find goodies inside the "meteors" when they broke them open.
