Each
week we have a special "letter of the week".
During the week, we make Alphabet Crafts that feature the
letter of the week and practice the upper and lower cases of the letter.
WHAT WE DO - ACTIVITIES: During S week, we either play games
in the Snow or in the Sun depending on what time of year it is. Take a
big piece of paper. Write Snow on one side and Sun on the other.
Ask the kids for fun things to do in each column. If you are in an
area where you don't get any Snow you can just brainstorm sunny activites.
If you're in an area where you don't get any Sun, you should move *wink*.
WHAT WE DO - SHAPES: This is a good week to work on the
Square shape.
WHAT WE DO - BODY:
Stretch!! You can do lots of stretching games with the kids.
One of our favorites is Simon Says Stretch (same as Simon Says, but focus on
stretching activities like stretching up to the sky and stretching down to
your toes)
WHAT WE DO - CRAFTS: String painting is a lot of fun.
Dip string in paint and squiggle it across the paper ssss-ing like a snake
as you do. Use different colors and different weights of wool or
string and see what kind of designs you can make.
WHAT WE DO - FOOD: During "Ss
week" try making Sugar Cookie Snakes. Make basic
sugar cookies and let the kids roll them into snake shapes (or you
can make squares if you prefer). If you make snakes, they'll
likely bake a bit shorter time than regular cookies, so watch them
closely for the last couple of minutes. Or if you want
something a bit healthier try a Strawberry
Salad.
